Establishment and History

The council was established based on the Strategic Partnership Agreement signed between Iraq and France in January 2023. The official announcement of the council’s formation took place in Paris on May 29, 2024, during the first joint meeting between Iraqi and French representatives. The council’s Letter of Intent were also signed during this meeting.

Strategic Partnership Agreement

Signed on January 26, 2023, in Paris. This agreement was signed during the visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani to France, where he met with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Lugal Establishment

the establishment of the IFBC was officially announced in Paris on May 29, 2024. according to claue 25 of Strategic Partnership Agreement. This announcement took place during the first meeting between the Iraqi and French sides

First Economic Forum

The First Iraqi-French Economic Forum was held in Paris from May 29th to June 1st, 2024. The event was organized by MEDEF International (the international branch of the Mouvement des entreprises de France, the main French Business Confederation).
